NPS Launches Your American Pilgrimage
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Park Service (NPS), launches today Your American Pilgrimage.
Your American Pilgrimage, a new National Park Service program, provides all-expenses-paid heritage journeys for families to retrace their ancestors' first days in America. In addition, the program offers Native Americans, original inhabitants, and those whose ancestors were brought unwillingly the opportunity to select from several vacation destinations.
"Your American Pilgrimage transforms family history from papers in a drawer to footsteps you can follow. It's about making our shared American story personal. We hope it turns muddled history into a lived experience that's powerful for understanding both our past and present," said the NPS representative. "History shows us every generation faced its own immigration debates. This program helps Americans see their own family's story in today's headlines."
