GAO Kicks Off the Elected Official Communication Evaluation

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Government Accountability Office (GAO), announces today the kick off of the Elected Official Communication Evaluation.

This new assessment measures elected officials' fitness for office through their ability to effectively explain different topics to diverse audiences, with clear consequences for those who repeatedly fail to meet these standards.

"Clear communication isn't a luxury in democracy - it's a necessity. If an elected official can't explain our positions to students, seniors, and working families alike, they are not doing our jobs," said the GAO representative. "This brings back an ancient wisdom: if you truly understand something, you should be able to explain it to anyone."
